Complex workflows. Voluminous data. Sophisticated users. Lightning speed. That’s the world of a Bloomberg designer.

I’ve worked on dozens of Bloomberg projects over the years, both on the Bloomberg Terminal and on web-based Enterprise Products. I’ve also been deeply involved in our Standards and Consistency effort, which has grown from a tiny team to a fully defined business process supported by over a dozen specialists.

My projects at Bloomberg have spanned three main areas:

  • Bloomberg Vault

    ENTERPRISE COMPLIANCE SUITE

Bloomberg’s compliance offering includes a broad array of separate tools for supervision and surveillance, investigation, reporting, and archiving.

As the lead designer in this area, I worked to transform Vault into an integrated, intuitive interface designed expressly around our customers’ workflows.

  • Internal Systems

    CRM, SALES, DATA ADMIN, TICKETING

The Bloomberg Terminal isn’t just a product - it’s the beating heart of the company. Over the years I’ve helped improve a number of homegrown, Terminal-based systems.

These systems are well engineered and highly performant, but not necessarily built with real users in mind. In UX, we set out to change that.

  • Terminal Framework

    STANDARDS AND CONSISTENCY

The Bloomberg Terminal is made up of thousands of “functions,” or financial applications. This breadth, plus an obsession with rapid innovation, inevitably risks a bit of chaos.

From the beginning, I have played a key role in the documentation and process design around standards and consistency. I’ve also analyzed, tested, and defined standards for many of the Terminal’s interaction and design patterns.
